Accommodation Insufficiency- eye focusing muscles weakness
A 31 years old Chinese man complained of left eye pain which transmitted to left temperal headache for several months.
He felt his car tends to swarve to one side each time he drives the car. The condition gets worse and he feels vertigo in crowd, whether he is in shopping mall or in street.
He went for a series of medical check up and no significant abnormalities were found.
On examination, patient has perfect eyesight 1.2 in each eye. Further examination, patient has +1.00DS longsightedness on each eye. Accommodation is much reduced and is unequal, with RE 6D and LE 3.75D.
With a correct presscription of glasses and accommodation excersice, all his sign and symotoms disappear.
Do I need to have my left eye Ptyregium operation?
A 58 years old Malay officer requested to have his left eye nasal corneal limbus ptyregium surgery. On examination, LE vision has good vision of 0.9 despite the growth of lesion has extended to the mid peripheral of the cornea and not yet covering the pupillary area.
The blood vessels on the lesion appeared fine and not congested. Tear film is sufficiently covered the cornea. There is no indication of rapid progression of lesion. Patient was advised no indication of surgery required as it might provokes and worsen the condition.
